Ash King is a captivating new voice within Australian blues and roots. He has wowed audiences with his soulful presence and funky guitar rhythms. Performing solo and as singer-guitarist in blues rock trio Smoke Stack Rhino, he has toured extensively, played 20+ festivals, supported the likes of Chain, Bob Log III (USA), Geoff Achison and received triple J and community radio airplay. During the 4-month COVID-enforced lockdown, Ash made use of the time to develop himself into a multidimensional singer-songwriter, writing a swag of songs, some with directly-inspired titles like ‘Stage 5 Lockdown’ and ‘Bushfire Apathy’.
Ash’s influences include Muddy Waters, John Butler, Xavier Rudd and living in the Yarra Valley, a creative community outside Melbourne, where he grew up busking at weekends and performing at open mic nights alongside artists such as The Teskey Brothers and Shaun Kirk.
Ash is a singer of songs, player of ‘gats’, a sayer of sayings and a wearer of hats.
